Catholic Communities of Prayer (CCOP) is a lay Catholic non-profit organization that has been formed to train and equip the Body of Christ in personal and corporate prayer by establishing Schools of Prayer throughout the Church. While there are many who participate in Mass and in the Liturgy of the Hours even daily, many of our churches members are out of touch with a true lifestyle of prayer. Through proper teaching our desire is to help ignite desire within the hearts of individuals that will help radically transform our Church communities. Our goal is to point people to the reality that within every Catholic Church, Christ sits enthroned, within the tabernacle, and he is worthy of unceasing praise, meditation, and adoration. Understanding this mystery in a deeper way will encourage the growth of vibrant communities of prayer that produce genuine Saints and foster a true discernment of vocations.
This is something that has been accomplished before in our history, and it is a revisiting of the days of the early Church. Before Pentecost, the Church had already been praying unceasingly. Night and Day the early Church prayed, “On earth as it was in heaven”. Saints from history past have established countless communities of prayer. In all these cases their hearts were filled as their eyes were set on their Beloved. These men and woman did nothing more than agree with Heaven and the way God is adored there.
The late Pope John Paul II declared in his Novo Millennio Ineunte, "Our Christian communities must become genuine 'schools' of prayer.” And, “How helpful it would be if not only in religious communities but also in parishes more were done to ensure an all-pervading climate of prayer.” Even now in Heaven the angels and saints sing, pray, fall, bow, and are exhilarated by the unapproachable beauty of the living God in eternity. There is nothing boring about this; Heaven is perfection, and a pattern of it on earth brings us near the perfection of God’s kingdom. We must join in our prayer; “His kingdom come. His will be done. On earth as it is in Heaven.
