Eucharistic Shrines

“Just as there are Marian Shrines, with rectors in charge of that particular ministry and suitable for its specific needs, it is also possible to have ‘Eucharistic Shrines.’” – Congregation of Clergy

Catholic Communities of Prayer’s mission to establish Schools of Prayer, Perpetual Adoration, and Perpetual Praise can be accomplished on any scale; ranging from small parish ministries to large centralized Eucharistic Shrines.  It is a vital part of CCOP’s mission to respond to Pope Benedict XVI and the Congregation of Clergy’s call for Eucharistic Shrines.

Eucharistic Shrine Defined: 

For CCOP’s mission, a Eucharistic Shrine will be a physical building within a diocese that has:

• A chapel for silent Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration
• A sanctuary for Liturgical services such as Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, and Perpetual Eucharistic Praise 
• A formalized School of Prayer that teaches the community the “art of prayer”. 
• The Shrine will be a stand-alone building in the diocese set aside specifically for prayer, and a priest will be assigned to run the Shrine full time.

Your Parish Could be a Eucharistic Shrine:

It is our desire to see the reality unfold in the hearts of Catholics that our parishes are Shrines dedicated to Christ.  Within and among us in the most intimate of ways Christ is present in the Tabernacle of all our Churches.  He is eternally worthy of our devotion and praise.  If we truly grasped this Mystery, no parish would be left empty.  Thousands would gather to seek the face of the living God. 

CCOP is committed to opening people’s eyes to this vital truth.  We will work with ministries and Churches to help in any stage so that leaders would be raised up, and people would be taught, trained, and equipped with the tools needed to sustain this ever growing movement of prayer and worship.
